Hello! Sabrina Shaw is a North Carolina native, from Aberdeen, N.C. She graduated from Pinecrest High School in 2022 and is now a third-year student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sabrina majors in Media and Journalism with a focus in AD/PR in the Hussman School, and minors in Education and Studio Art. She hopes to explore the various avenues of creative and strategic communication in AD and relay them into cultural, artistic, and advocacy work, or content creation. Sabrina values expression through storytelling, and UNC has opened a gateway of opportunity to enhance her passions.

Sabrina couldn’t imagine ending her 14-year-long dancing journey when becoming a college student. She began dancing at a non-profit dance studio in Southern Pines, N.C., which provided accessibility to lower-income students to invest in their interests. She recognized the importance of nonprofits and expressed the need for more affordability, accessibility, and welcoming nature for the arts. Now, Sabrina is a student choreographer for Blank Canvas Dance Company, an on-campus organization, where she leads, organizes, creates, and participates in dances.

Her other work is with with UNC Xpressions Magazine, a student-led fashion publication that highlights POC voices. She works on the magazine committee and has taken roles as a creative director for orchestrating shoots for the magazine. This upcoming school year, Sabrina will be taking on the official role of Executive Producer for the magazine to continue the artistic vision of the publication.

In her free time, Sabrina loves delving into fashion as she recognizes it's a staple in the Black community and a way of navigating womanhood against the masculinized perceptions towards Black women.
